Josh Malerman has become one of my favorite authors. For years, I’ve looked for great horror books that actually scare me – that give me the creeps like I used to get when I was a kid, running up the stairs from the dark basement, escaping the waiting, unknown horror.
I’m about 30% into Incidents Around the House, and I’m seriously freaking out. This is such a fun book to read, and frightening indeed. Having young kids myself – and given I never lost my inner child, both voice and thoughts – I’m easily relating to the narrator and the true scares of each scene.
Pick this book up if you are looking for something new to finish out the summer reading season.
